Bridgend & District Quiz League

Welcome to

The Bridgend & District
Quiz League

50 Anniversary celebration night

When schoolmaster Jeff North first organised a quiz league in the Bridgend area in 1973, with the participation of eight teams, he could have had little idea that half a century later his brainchild would still be going strong.

To celebrate these fifty years, the league, one of the longest lasting (if not the longest) in the UK held a celebration evening at Tondu Railway Club, combining a registration evening with a quiz contest for the Alan Rudge Memorial Cup.  The question master was Mr. David Rees, who also compiles the questions for the league

The guest of honour, on this occasion, was none other than former ‘Mastermind’ winner Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace from television’s ‘The Chase’ who happily entered into the spirit of the evening by taking part in the Cup quiz.

The Cup was won, after a very closely fought contest, by a team from Tondu Railway Club.

Following a delicious buffet, kindly donated by the Club, there was a question and answer session compered by Mr. Andy Rudge where Shaun regaled his audience with anecdotes of his life and his experiences on ‘The Chase’.

Throughout the evening he tirelessly posed for photographs and selfies and chatted with many attendees.

There is still time to join our quiz league, first matches in early October, for any budding quizzers in the Bridgend Borough area.
